It’s believed that the tradition of forming marzipan into fruit began during the 12th century in Palermo, Italy. Nuns sculpted fruits from marzipan to hang from bare trees to impress the visiting archbishop. Whatever the origin, this long-standing European treat remains popular to this day and is enjoyed by children and adults alike any time of year.
