Welcome to the Golden Gait Mercantile
The Golden Gait Mercantile is a two-story classic, old time general store located on Main Street in Ferndale, California. Our historic town, known as the Victorian Village, is located on the Northern California Coast and is nestled in the Heart of the California Redwoods.
In 1972, Marlin and Sandra Mesman opened the doors to the Golden Gait Mercantile and quickly became a popular, one stop shop destination for locals and tourists.

In 2014, John and Julie Kreitzer became the new proprietors to carry on the tradition. Today, the Golden Gait Mercantile continues to be a remembered shop on Main Street!
